Right now there are plenty of discussions about entitlements and how much we should do to help people and when do we help too much?
Bob, from “THE FIVE” on the Fox Channel, said today that Liberals made a mistake thirty years ago. He said something to the affect that we wanted to help people with Food Stamps and Unemployment extension but now I think we have gone too far and made people too dependent on government. Another member of THE FIVE said something like “and we Republicans probably shouldn’t have tried to be so helpful on housing and created the “Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac” problem.
I hope you will watch the following videos and let their messages resonate within you. After some contemplation, tell us what you think will help the situation get better. Obviously jobs will help a lot, which means that business needs to trust in the future and believe that things will get better.
Right now we have huge differences between the Democrat and Republican philosophies. I believe both want to help people in their own way but I also believe the President is killing jobs with his policies. Somehow, we need to get both sides to admit their mistakes and find a way to move forward. The question is how much more can we do until we bust as a nation? Yes, people are more important than most things we spend money on but at some point, we have to figure it out.

NO Economic Recovery without Years of Consequences
In Southern California there are beggars on every freeway exit. It’s been like this for a while but I’ve definitely noticed a major increase as of late. Also, many of my neighbors are out jogging and walking with their spouses mid-afternoon on weekdays. I assume their hours were cut or laid off? Things are falling apart and fast. The media is creating a facade.

Pelosi States Food Stamps Create Jobs – Leslie Marshall on “America’s Nightly Scoreboard” 10/7/10
What do you think? Do food stamps create jobs and stimulate the economy as Speaker Pelosi said?

Newt Gingrich has pointed out that the November 2010 midterm election is about paychecks vs food stamps. Despite record spending on food stamps and unemployment benefits, job losses continue to mount. Nonetheless, on Nancy Pelosi’s planet people still believe that unemployment benefits and food stamps create jobs.

SAVE THE LIFELINE FOR AMERICA
Extended unemployment insurance benefits expire at Thanksgiving — a very cold turkey for millions of Americans already facing the devastation of long term joblessness.
unemployedworkers.org is launching a campaign to SAVE THE LIFELINE — we need to push Congress to renew the benefit extensions.
The unemployed desperately want to work. They would much rather have a job than benefits, but the jobs lost in the crisis just haven’t come back yet. Until we create jobs, we can’t just throw millions into homelessness and onto public assistance.

So what do you think? Paychecks, food stamps, unemployment, homelessness, jobless, welfare, and helping people who need help without creating dependents on the system for generations? Do you have an idea that is better than the politicians can see? Personally, I believe it takes a community and the churches to help these people get back on their feet. However, some communities are just as poor as the people they want to help.
