This is another “Can We Believe It?” story!
The stupidity of some people’s biased attitudes just amazes me. A perfect example of this is demonstrated in an article from Glenn Beck’s BLAZE Newsletter. The 9/12 Project donated booklets of the Constitution to schools. However, because the 9/12 Project name and web address was printed on the booklets, some Floridian School Districts refused to distribute them.
Yes, I know, I should not be so surprised about this story — but I am! It is just so typical of the divisiveness we are seeing in this country today; particularly between Liberal and Conservative philosophies. What does tick me off though, is that people can be so biased and so ignorant about our children’s education.
It appears that it’s okay for Liberals to distribute booklets of the Constitution missing words that offend them, such as God and other bothersome words, but they REFUSE to distribute a booklet of the Constitution with the 9/12 name and web address printed on it. Hmm, is something wrong with this picture? These people are educating our children. Does that make you wonder what our children are learning from people like this?
The booklet is just a copy of the original Constitution, it’s not like children are being brainwashed with Conservative values — even though they’re being brainwashed with Liberal values. My goodness, the name 9/12 Project is supposed to do what? I guess educating children about their heritage is wrong! Teaching children that the Founding Fathers had specific beliefs and dreams for America must not be allowed in schools today, at least not in some Floridian School Districts.
I was shocked when my 16 year old grandson and twelve and fourteen year old granddaughters didn’t know the story of Paul Revere. They knew almost nothing about how and why this nation was populated by pilgrims or what the TEA Party was all about back in the early days of America. They tell me what they are taught at school and it blows my mind to think they believe that garbage and that this stuff is brazenly taught to them.
Children need to have the truth in their own hands. Even if they cannot understand the words, having the Constitution in their possession is important for them. What they MUST understand more than anything is the sacrifices that were made on their behalf and the freedom they enjoy today is because of what they did. Children need to feel some appreciation for that sacrifice.
FLA. SCHOOL DISTRICTS REFUSE TO DISTRIBUTE CONSTITUTION BOOKLETS DONATED BY 9/12 PROJECT
“I know they claim they’re not a political group, but they have direct links from their website that do take you to partisan political websites,” Mullen said.
But the Nature Coast 9/12 Project donated money to a local Tea Party group to purchase Constitution booklets for schools in another Florida district this year without any problem, Arrigale said. Those booklets were stamped with the Tea Party’s name, which a district spokeswoman told the Times was fine — “[a]s long as it’s not included with any sort of political message.”
For the 9/12 Project, the controversy is just the latest setback in an attempt to get schools to teach U.S. history taught in a complete, unbiased way.
“What we’re out to do is educate people that things in the Bill of Rights are being taken away from us and are being misconstrued,” Nature Coast 9/12 member Annette Weeks said.
