I just heard two reports on Fox News that might interest you.
- 1 in 5 Americans are “Financially Insecure”
- Defined as 25% drop in Household Income
- It will take the average American 6-8 years to recover their previous income level.
- Big Banks are in much better shape this year, but the smaller ones that have a lot of loans out are still in trouble.
- 91 banks in Europe were given a stress test to see how they would handle certain situations. They expect ten banks to fail but only seven did (many of them are in Spain).
- They also determined that the dollar is holding up to the Euro, so that looks good as well.
This report makes me wonder if the dire predictions of the dollar crashing and 138,000 banks failing by September this year are still a concern. I wonder if this growth is long-term or if we still have something to worry about in the near days ahead? I also wonder how much we need to prepare for future situations if report continues to be good?
These questions are the same ones you need to be asking yourselves when making plans for the future. I don’t know about you, but I think the economy is still volatile and can slip with any event that strains the establishment of banks, financial institutions, and the economy. This is why I am still carrying on with my plans and collecting items I need in an emergency. It only makes sense to me that I have these items on hand. It can’t hurt, but only add peace of mind. The items I collect can be used for a variety of situations that are not necessarily used only for an emergency.
If you still feel you need to store items like heirloom seeds (non-hybrid so they can be stored, saved, and replanted), rotation of food items that you use frequently in your normal activities, flashlights and candles when power goes out, water (which is always an important thing to have on hand), generator, walkie-talkie and two-way radios, alternative heating and cooking supplies because power can go out any time and you might need these items.
If you not purchased these items yet and you think it might be a good idea to now, please check out my store at Shop.OurDayShopping.com. I have a discount coupon that just expired for portable greenhouses that I will extend for one more month and then I will remove the discount for good. I really want to help you get some items that you need. With a greenhouse, you can extend the growing season if you got started late. Also, some of the greenhouses are small enough to be brought inside.
I am interested in knowing how you feel about the economy and the trustworthiness of the dollar and banks with this report. Do you think this is good news and makes you feel more secure about the future or are you still concerned?

My brother and I had been just discussing this very topic, he’s continuously trying to prove me incorrect. Your own view on this is fantastic and exactly how I truly feel. I recently mailed my brother this page to show him your view. Right after looking over your weblog I added and will be coming back to read your messages!
