Monday, June 21, 2010 – Redistricting Committee Hearing. 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at University of Texas at San Antonio Downtown Campus in the Buena Vista Theater, 501 West Durango Street, San Antonio TX 78207. Public testimony will be heard at the joint meeting of the House Subcommittee on San Antonio Redistricting and the House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence. Rep. Since the Republican vote in Bexar County prevails for the statewide and countywide candidates, there should be at least a 50-50 representation–not the current 20-25%–for state & U.S. representatives, county commissioners, and city council. Bexar County is really a competitive area that needs districts and precincts drawn, not as a job protection plan for the current elected officials, but with boundaries that depict the communities of interest both demographically and philosophically. Please tell the House Committee members that we expect and deserve fair representation and not the current gerrymandering that protects the incumbent Democrat officeholders. |
