The TEA Party movement is about Government recognizing “The Will of The People”. Most of us understand this part of the movement but how much do we know about the reason for its creation? Do you know that TEA stands for TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY?
The TEA Party movement may have begun as a movement against taxation, but now it has evolved to include much more than a fight against high taxation. Let us consider the impact this movement has on American politics.
It is clear that this President and this Congress do not appreciate the plight of responsible tax payers; upon which their taxation represent the backbone of society. When you mess with them, the very ones affected most by what Congress is doing in the name of the people, you mess with the stabilty of this nation.
President Reagan said that it would be immoral to ask those who are already paying taxes to pay for those who are not paying their share. He said they need to expand the tax law to cover a fair share for everyone. He also said that it isn’t right to break the backs of those paying their fair share of taxes to pay for government debt.
I guess Congress does not understand this basic principle and does not care either! Passing any law that raises the taxes on states and the individual tax payer is suicidal. It will cause states to go bankrupt and bankrupt many Americans. The higher taxes become, the more people have to give up to pay for it. As a result, families will be torn apart because of the pressures placed on them or because they have lost their jobs as a direct result of this situation.
One suggestion that President Reagan gave to resolve this situation was to have a line veto option on every bill that comes up for a vote. With a line veto the bill could be challenged for just one line, but with a veto on that line, the bill could pass. He said “If the line veto works for 48 states, then government can do the same.
This means all the pork that Congress includes in a bill, with all special interests being pacified, could be vetoed without dumping the whole bill. This ability would stop the PORK Congress favors that raises our taxes and devalues the dollar.
Government needs to lower the burden of high taxation on the people who support this nation financially. Congress is supposed to be our representatives. They were elected to serve us to the best of their ability. Our taxes give them money to spend on protecting and running the affairs of the people. That money needs to be used right now on rejuvenating the economy. High taxation slows down the economy because business cannot grow and tightens their ability to hire.
The government cannot keep spending and expect the tax payer to pay for it. President Reagan explained this point well by comparing our present situation to parents supporting their children’s extravagant spending by giving them too much money to spend. When we cut their allowance, we give children the ability to control their spending. We need to cut our allowance to Congress’ so they cannot continue to extravagantly spend our money.
The TEA Party is about telling Congress that they will NOT tolerate extravagant spending any more. They are taxed enough already and will no longer remain quiet about it.
The TEA Party movement is a grassroots movement with ordinary people standing together to tell Congress that enough is enough. The truth is, the more the tax payer is required to pay unfairly, the more active this group is becoming. Mark my words, because of this situation, and although it is presently peaceful, Congress will force a rebellion against high taxation.
Many “States” cannot continue to pay the taxation required of them without going bankrupt. I heard the governor of Arizona say that, if this Health Care bill passes, it will cause her state to declare bankruptcy. If Arizona cannot pay for what Congress requires of them, how many other states will follow?
What options do states have when Congress continues to burden them with taxation they have no ability to pay? If at least there are thirty-eight to forty states (at last count that I saw yesterday) have drafted a lawsuit to fight Government on this, and even if it turns out to be powerless (as it is expected to be) then what recourse is there for these states? It appears to be only two choices, and that is to go bankrupt or cede from the union. There could be as many as thirty-eight states in this rank.
How far fetched is it to think that thirty-eight states might cede from the union? Who knows, but one thing we do know is that Government is about to bankrupt the nation. America has already lost it’s AAA credit rating. To make matters worse, we are on the verge of the dollar crashing and having to go to an international Special Drawing Rights to fund America.
How much more will we take before it all comes to a boil? How much longer will people suffer under this government’s arrogance, particularly extravagant spending on the backs of tax payers, before we rebel? It seems to be just a matter of time before we do something drastic about this situation.
Politicians seem to think the November election will cure the problem, but that will not stop all the suffering of Americans now. Changing the majority party in Congress will not do much to ease the suffering of today. Those who think they are getting something good out of what is going on in Washington will be surprised when it is discovered they are wrong in a number of ways.
There will be a rude awakening when people continue to lose their jobs, lose their homes and cars, lose their marriages, and lose their dignity. They can blame no one but the Congress and Administration in office right now; not the next one. People seem to forget this point and the fact that they are the ones who put these people into office in the first place.
Every single American will pay for what happens right now in Washington. Whether or not the Health Care bill passes, whether or not the TEA Party has an impact on Congress in future decisions, whether or not states can pay the taxes mandated on them by government, whether or not people rebel, will not change what is in store for the American People when they lose their inalienable rights the Constitution allows its citizens.
Only time will reveal the impact of the decisions made in Washington today. Only time will tell how far the American People will allow this administration to continue to rob Americans their basics rights. Time will reveal very shortly, what the people and states will tolerate before they say enough is enough. One thing is for sure, however, our days are numbered as we continue down this road. Such a prospect concerns many Americans, of which only time will tell the consequences.
I welcome your comments.
